Our Friendly Cabs CEO (and main driver), Duncan, has today successfully completed the Level 2 Makaton Sign Language course. Level 1 covers basic Makaton vocabulary, whereas Level 2 is far more in-depth and complex and covers everything most Makaton speakers are likely to need. He is now recovering.. 😁
Makaton Sign Language Stage 2
It’s starting to get real! Stage 2 is far more in depth than Stage 1 and will require a ton more headache tablets! I’m getting too old for this but it will, undoubtedly, be worth the pain. Let us leave no-one behind.

“Friendly Cabs have supported a student at St George’s to safely be transported home for 5 weeks. Friendly Cabs are exactly that, very friendly to the student and mindful of additional needs. Our drivers are “Makaton Stage 1” sign language trained and Friendly Cabs is Communications Access UK certified. Our taxis also have a “Widgit Symbols” cheat sheet installed.

This will allow passengers with vocal impairments to better communicate with the driver and hopefully make everyone feel welcomed, valued … Read on
