Good morning, everyone. With a Met Office Yellow Warning for heavy rain in place for the entire day, it would seem we’re in for a cloudy and wet start to the week, with rain possible throughout the day, increasing in volume from 16.00. Temperatures will fluctuate between 15 and 17 degrees C, accompanied by light SW winds.
Island Roads has said it is necessary to close Cross Street in Ryde, along its entire length, for utility works. The works will commence at 07.00 today (23/09/2024) and continue through to 16.00 on Friday (27/09/2024), or when the works have been completed. An alternative route will be signposted locally.
Work to replace the deck on Yarmouth Bridge begins today. It will see the bridge closed to road traffic for circa 8 weeks, with motorists having to divert via Wilmingham Lane and The Middle Road. Pedestrian access, however, will be maintained throughout, and cyclists will still be able to use the bridge during the works, provided they dismount. Island Roads says it has worked with the harbour commission to minimise disruption to river traffic.
The Floating Bridge remains out of action and will do so until 05.00 on Friday 27/09.
All other island travel services appear to be running to schedule, as of 07.30 this morning.
Friendly Cabs is open and operating normally. We wish you all a wonderful start to your week! 01983 506975
