A DAMP START TO A PARTLY SUNNY THURSDAY – 04/12/2025

Good morning, everyone! After a rather soggy start, the Met Office is promising brighter weather after lunch, with broken cloud and sun from midday onwards. Temperatures will range from 3 to 8 degrees C, accompanied by light and variable W winds.

Horsebridge Hill is closed due to an earlier police incident, which is causing major disruption on our roads this morning. Traffic on Pallance Road is backed up, with parked vehicles on both sides of the road. Noke Common remains accessible, although the road is getting busy with the extra traffic.

With the ongoing closure of Horsebridge Hill and Rew Street in Gurnard, vehicles are currently using Pallance Road as a diversion route.

Southern Vectis said: “As a result of this, traffic in the area is at a standstill and route 1 buses are seeing significant disruption.”

A shuttle bus will operate between St Mary’s and Newport at frequent intervals to help minimise the disruption caused.

There are longer than usual delays on Fairlee Road and the Dual Carriageway this morning. There are unconfirmed reports of minor crashes along both routes.

With the ongoing closure of Horsebridge Hill, long queues are forming for the Floating Bridge in both directions, particularly on the East Cowes side.

All island travel services appear to be running to schedule, as of 08.30 this morning.

Friendly Cabs is closed today due to a catastrophic mechanical failure on our 8 seater van. We expect to re-open on Monday 07/12 at 06.00. If you’d like to book a taxi for Monday or thereafter then please email us at hello@friendlycabs.co.uk. We wish you all a terrific Thursday! 01983 506975
