A WET START TO A MOSTLY SUNNY MONDAY – 24/02/2025

Good morning, everyone! The Met Office is forecasting a mostly sunny day after the initial rain has passed at about 10.00 this morning. Temperatures will fluctuate between 8 and 12 degrees C, accompanied by light SW winds.

Island Roads has announced ‘carriageway reconstruction works’ on High Street and Church Road in Shanklin, scheduled to start this morning.

The project is expected to take around six working days, with daily operations from 07.00 to 17.00, and will be split into two phases between February 24 and March 5:

  • Phase 1: Church Road, between Cowleaze Hill and Manor Road (approximately three days).
  • Phase 2: High Street, from Chine Avenue to Rectory Road (approximately three days).

    During the construction period these sections will be closed to traffic.

    All island travel services appear to be running to schedule, as of 06.30 this morning, and there are no further reported problems with either our roads or traffic.
