Good morning, everyone! Jamie Russell from the IW met Service says multiple spells of heavy rain and strong winds are expected today, with S or SW winds gusting as high as 60-70mph in exposed locations, accompanied by spells of heavy and persistent rain, the first of which is likely through Sunday afternoon, where we could see 10-15mm of rain falling, accompanied by winds gusting to 70mph. We’re already experiencing heavy rain here in East Cowes.
The second spell seems likely to arrive during Sunday evening and night with 15-20mm of rainfall possible, accompanied by wind gusts of 60-70mph.
Temperatures will range from 6 to 10 degrees C.
During the early hours of Monday morning it’s likely further spells of heavy rain and showers could fall with anything from 10mm up to 20mm of rainfall in places along with gusty, squally winds.
We expect to see quite a lot of water accumulating on our roads today so watch out for flash flooding.
