A STORMY FRIDAY – 24/01/2025

Good morning, everyone! Storm Eowyn has begun to batter the island and is forecast to do so throughout the day. A Yellow Warning for wind is in place until 23.59 tonight. The rain is predicted to cease around 09.00. Temperatures will fluctuate between 7 and 10 degrees C, accompanied by moderate to high WSW winds with local gusts of over 60mph.

Both the Red Funnel vehicle ferries and the Red Jet passenger ferries are currently “suspended until further notice due to Storm Eowyn.”

From the Hover Travel website:

“Services are cancelled due to adverse weather. The next update will be 14.45 . Tickets will be accepted on the Wightlink Fast Cat Service. –Please see our Disruption Contingency Plan web page.”

All other island travel services appear to be running to schedule, as of 06.30 this morning, and there are no reported problems with either our roads or traffic.
