Good morning, everyone! It should be a mostly sunny day today with some cloudy patches, according to the Met Office. Temperatures are expected to fluctuate between 14 and 20 degrees C, accompanied by light NNE winds.
South Street in Newport will close today for 8 days of road works. The works will see improvements made to South Street, Newport, between its junctions with Prospect Road and Church Litten. The road will be closed to traffic throughout the project, with pedestrian access remaining as long as it is safe. The diversion route for westbound traffic will be via Coppins Bridge, St George’s Way, St George’s Approach, Medina Avenue and Church Litten. Eastbound traffic can travel via the open section of South Street, St James Street and then either High Street or Hunnyhill.
Godshill’s School Road, between the Church Hill and Church Hollow junctions, will see delays today (16/09). Temporary traffic lights come into effect at 07.30 and are expected to remain in place for four to five hours.
Long Lane, Newport will be closed today between 09.30 and 15.30. This will affect the Southern Vectis bus route 8. From their Twitter feed:
“Long Lane, Newport will be closed between 09:30 & 15:30 on Monday 16th September. Route 8 services will divert via Staplers Road, Whiterails Road & Briddlesford Road. Downend Cottage, Standen Lane, Durton Lane, Landscape Lane & Buckbury Lane stops will not be served.”
All other island travel services appear to be running to schedule, as of 06.30 this morning.
