A HOT MONDAY – 12/08/2024 – East Cowes & Isle of Wight IOW Taxi Service

With temperatures already at 24 degrees C at 08.00 this morning, it’s safe to say it’s going to be a hot day today. Blue skies will see temperatures soar to in excess of 27 degrees C in the shade, accompanied light WSW winds.

“Route 2 – Merstone Closed

From 08:00-16:00 Daily on the 12th-16th August, Merstone Lane will be closed

Buses will be diverting from Blackwater Road via Blackwater Hollow, Rookley Main Road to Godshill. Stops will not be served between Blackwater Quarry and RSPCA Shelter”

All other island travel services appear to be running to schedule, as of 08.00 this morning.

A overnight motorcycle accident on the outskirts of Ryde has seen several roads still closed this morning. Details below via County Press:

Newnham Road is also inaccessible from its junction with Newnham Lane, the County Press is told.

Motorists are unable to access Rowlands Lane from the Downs Road for the time being.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for a statement.

Motorists are having to divert at Upton Cross, Stroud Wood Road’s junction with Upton Road, Gatehouse Road and Carters Road.

Stroud Wood Road, between Ryde and Havenstreet, has been closed by officers this morning.

Rowlands Lane and Newnham Road have also been made subject to temporary closures, the County Press understands.
